Summer class: Preparing for GCSE English Exam

Two free group lessons are now offered to students who are going to sit GCSE English exams. Our volunteer tutor Grace will go through exam marking and grading criteria of the GCSE (grade bands, and scoring criteria) and review past papers so students know what is expected of them.

Date: 11th and 25th August 2023 (Fridays)

Time: 4:30-6:00pm

Place: Kingston Quaker Centre, Fairfield E, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2PT

Eligibility: Students who have recently moved from Hong Kong to the U.K. and are going to sit GCSE English exams

Quota: 8

Fee: Eligible students will attend both lessons free of charge

About the Tutor:

Grace was born in Hong Kong and moved to London in 2020. She studied LLB at HKU and LLM at SOAS and now work as a Policy Advisor at a UK broadcaster. She worked as an academic tutor in Hong Kong, teaching English/literacy/literature to students aged 4-18 attending international schools. She is very familiar with the UK curriculum (KS1-3, GCSE). 

Grace said, “I have recently moved to Kingston where there is a new thriving community of Hong Kongers. I remember how difficult and lonely it was to move here. I'd love to give back to my fellow Hong Kongers by helping them in any way I can, whether that be in helping them make their way through a new unfamiliar place or helping kids familiarise themselves in a new schooling system.”
