Getting ready for IELTS – exam skills and self-help preparation strategies

To achieve your highest possible scores, you need effective exam skills, and result-oriented strategies for solid practice. 

This talk will concentrate on Writing and Speaking which many candidates fail to reach their target scores. Listening and Reading will also be touched on. 

Focuses include:

- how to write in a short time to achieve the marking criteria

- how to make use of good writing samples without plagiarising 

- what to do during the short one-min preparation time for speaking part 2

- how to answer questions in speaking part 3 when you have no preparation time

- how to start enriching your vocabulary and gaining speech fluency 

- how long is a sufficient preparation period and how to self-prepare

Date:  20 May, 2023 Saturday

Time:  2:30 – 4:00 pm 

Language: Cantonese and English

Format:  Online on Google Meet (Successful applicants will receive the meeting links right after registration. Please make sure you have provided a correct email address.)

Speaker: Ms Pionie Foo had taught a wide range of English language and communication courses for over 25 years in a top university in Hong Kong. Her extensive experience in conducting IELTS courses received highly positive feedback from students. Some others preferred her one-to-one advising which was tailor-made to help overcoming individual weaknesses, especially in the writing and speaking modules. Currently, she is a volunteer supporting refugees in the UK to reach the IELTS standard for re-accrediting previous professional qualification.
